Moonbase Alpha - no audio / no sound / AMD Dual Core optimizer won't install
I recently wanted to play Moonbase Alpha and I had two problems with it: Problem: whenever I ran it, it would try to install AMD Dual Core optimizer, but the installation would never finish properly, and it doesn't seem necessary if you have a CPU made after 2007. My CPU has six cores. Solution: go to the folder where Moonbase Alpha is installed, which is %SteamLibrary%\steamapps\common\Moon Base Alpha ( %SteamLibrary% is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam by default) and go to the InstallReqs\AMD subdirectory and rename or delete DCO_1.1.4_Setup.exe . Note: this will probably need to be done again if Steam updates or verifies Moonbase Alpha. Problem: there was no audio output except in the opening video. I had followed all the other advice such as setting sound card output to stereo, making sure the right output was selected (which it obviously was if the opening video was audible), verifying files in Steam, etc. Solution: This solution was inspired by Jack Schitt on the Steam Commu
